DAY OF THE EAGLE

With the Federation Starfleet fully engaged in operations facing Klingon forces in the western sectors of the Federation, the Romulan Star Empire has formally declared war upon the United Federation of Planets.

Within 3 micro-seconds of the reciept of the official declaration transmission at least 60 Romulan vessels have crossed into Federation Space...

These images are from an encounter by USS EAGLE NCC-1719; communications with this vessel and the entire Romulan Neutral Zone sectors have been severed. Last information from the command marker buoy indicated that a self destruct sequence had been initiated.

The future of the entire Federation now depends on an active defence and communicating the greatest of need for allied forces to take immediate action.

Colony Re-Named

The former associate planet named Novorovosibirsk has been re-named.

Due to the gallant action of USS ENDEAVOR, NCC-1716 the re-located colonial government from an over-run colony world in sector 2209 has decided to re-name the planet:

"NEW ENDEAVOR"

Or in its local tongue:

Новое Усилие

The ship had permitted a host of refugees to land on the planet after local authorities were refusing any more landings and threatening to use system defences to shoot down any ships approaching.

After defeating the defence systems, Captain Flynn landed on the planet and negotiated a settlement with the planetary authorities. Following the landings a colony governor requested assistance from USS ENDEAVOR, which was provided and an improvised orbital platform and class II starport facilities were constructed by the engineering services of the starfleet vessel.

According to local authorities any memeber of the Endeavor crew; past, present or future will be afforded the best of hospitality that this growing planet can provide.

Counter-Strike Success!

After many weeks of continual bad news following the destruction of USS HOOD and virtually all of the border forces, 4th Fleet and the loss of Starbase 12 comes some good news.

Operating from Starbase 16, USS ENDEAVOR and USS EXETER have struck a blow that should slow down the advancing Klingon Imperial Fleets.

An entire Fleet Repair Dock was captured intact!

No word yet on the total casualties or of the exact Klingon losses, however valuable technical specifications and other data have been recovered from the data banks of the Klingon FRD!

FEDERATION at WAR with KLINGON EMPIRE

As of Stardate 8701.1 the United Federation of Planets is at a state of WAR with the Klingon Empire.

The Federation Council recieved news of USS HOOD NCC-1703 having been attacked by three 'D' category Klingon vessels 14 parsecs within the Federation side of the Organian Treaty Zone. This was at Stardate 8700.9. The USS HOOD reported the approach and then attack of the three Klingon vessels. HOOD then transmitted a mayday and indicated that they would have to engage the three cruisers alone. Seconds later all contact in sector 2007 was lost.

Federation Council Security comittee met at Stardate 8701.0 and the decision to issue the general WAR broadcast to all Starfleet vessels, stations and deployed units was issued.

Memory Alpha RAID stopped in its tracks!

An attempted raid on the Memory Alpha data storage facility was foiled on Stardate 8449.2.

The thieves had managed to penetrate the physical defences of the facility and were in the process of hacking the central core database when staff noticed the power spikes related to the hacking action. Starfleet security were dispatched to the primary power core, central database storage, and the facilities transmitters were put on stand-by in a looped send-self recieve mode. USS REPUBLIC was recalled from cadet training exercises to cover any physical departures from the facility.

Starfleet Marines were confronted inside the 3rd ring Core Storage, access zone Gamma-2, by three well-armed theives and one other whom was busy at the access point. 3 Marines were killed by the disruptor fire, the Core Storage was locked-out and the thieves set their weapons for overload and self-destructed rather than face capture.

The theif group were using Klingon weapons, 22nd Century Federation Data access PADDs and patched tricorder systems of a commercial variey. They are described as humanoid and wearing stealth system suits with (potentially) vaccum suit performance. The vacc-suit system is suspected as only one airlock was found to have been defeated, no transporter systems can penetrate the 5th Ring and no camera or automated detection system was tripped in either the 5th, 4th or 3rd Ring.

Federation Personnel are reminded to maintain vigilence regarding data security and a higher state of alert for all StarFleet Vessels, Stations and Personnel is also directed due to this attempt to access core Federation data.

Star Fleet Operational Orders

To All Ships Personnel

Pleased be advised that Star Fleet Operations is started to made changes to how ships operate.
All divisions are advised that they may be changed or replaced as Star Fleet Operations designates. When the changes are complete, Endeavor will also be changing. I have not been informed by Star Fleet Command as to when these changes will take place but what I have heard is that most divisions will be placed under the Operations designation.
Sciences and Engineering will stay the same and Star Fleet Marines will become responsible for all security operations once enough marines have graduated and been posted to ships. I will advise all personnel once I have been told or ordered to make changes.
Captain Flynn, CO USS Endeavor

Last Words...

Only moments before the saboteurs died while conducting a raid into the command/operations center of the Vanguard station, currently under construction and under-tow, they were seen to put up their hands in surrender; to the detachment of Star Fleet Marines from USS ENDEAVOR.

Their only words were, "to the future."

Then the micro anti-matter bombs that they had scattered around the room detonated.

The saboteurs and crew of the center were vaporized.

The Star Fleet Marines recieved radiation poisoning and flash burns, but their new enhanced battlesuits managed to save their lives.

NEW STARSHIP : MIRANDA CLASS

Federation Council 'special committee'?

There are a number of rumors about a special committee, organized by the President of the Federation Council, that has the mandate to investigate and respond to the increase in Pirate activity within the boundaries of Federation Space.

So far, 'no comment', has been the consistent answer to questions posed about such a secret committee. The UFP/ITA had, at first, confirmed the committee as a credible group. Later, 1.4 stardates to be exact, the UFP/ITA then denied that any high-level connections between the commercial interests of the ITA and Federation Council officials had been organized or that any was likely to be organized.

This situation is roughly analogous to the creation of Starfleet, as the Romulan War was starting to take on greater impact, the then newly formed Federation Council started a secret operations committee, which later became Starfleet Command. Considering that the new (returning) admiral of Starfleet, Admiral Sievak, was an instrumental member of that original committee, could he now be mastermind of a re-make of Starfleet?

Other commentators are not so generous, there are concerns that the commercial fleets may be co-opted into something entirely new, sort of a civil version of Starfleet, with the same mandate to disband further independant operators. UFP/ITA licence-holders are getting antsy about the value of their contracts and the very clear and present danger of operations around the new 'free trade zone' of Orion Space.

Formerly Orion-aligned worlds are also becoming less hospitable towards Federation licenced operators and Federation based ship-designs. Many older ship designs are suddenly back in 'vogue' for deep space operations and starship re-fitting operations that had given up on designs from the pre-ITA era are now getting a new life, along with many older space-hands willing to get back into the stars.

Whichever way the new committee goes, the need for relevant action to slow the pirates down is now.
